Week 2 Reflection

Why do you think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams?

I think that Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he had initiative. I think a lot of times that we do not get things done because we are lacking initiative. It is so easy to sit on a couch for four or more hours a day watching Netflix and having our minds wander. If we actually push ourselves to reach our goals - we will grow. We will actually be able to experience life and accomplish those goals we are set out to do! Now, don't get me wrong, I love Netflix! But I do think that people who accomplish their goals in this life are dedicated and disciplined. They don't give up when it gets hard. They keep pushing and doing the hard things even when they are exhausted and don't feel like doing it. A lot of times this is what most people are lacking in! I think Randy Pausch had the vision and determination to accomplish his dreams!

Do you feel that dreaming is important? Why or why not?

I think dreaming is so important! It helps us hope and aspire to be better, whether we dream to change ourselves physically - by working out and eating healthier, intellectually - by reading more books and studying more, or emotionally - by facing our fears and traumas and bettering ourselves. We can make the changes and we can improve. Dreaming allows us to figure out what makes us happy and excited about life! The best part about it too is that we have the opportunity to run with that. We are able to push ourselves and accomplish our dreams, we just have to dedicate ourselves! 

Discuss at least one of your childhood dreams. Explain why you believe you can or cannot achieve this dream. 

I love singing and so one of my childhood dreams was to become a famous singer. I think that it is a possibility, but I believe that I would need to dedicate more time, money and resources in to accomplishing this dream. I think that I would have to invest in classes and trainings with people who can help me figure out how to write songs, maybe try to find a music production agency or studio that would sign me, etc. There are a lot of behind the scenes things that would go into it. I could also dedicate time to making more YouTube videos of me singing and doing more covers of popular songs. I think this would help me in accomplishing my dream! All in all, I think that ultimately if it is something I really desire, I need to find that drive within myself and push towards it!

Week 13 Reflection

This week was great and I felt like I was really able to learn a lot of things from the Week 13 readings. I genuinely enjoyed what I learned from the case study we did on Randy Haykin. I felt like I was able to see so many different things in that case study and recognizing things I wish to do in my future. Randy's story is really a remarkable one, seeing the way that he was able to become an entrepreneur. It seemed as though he was almost pushed into the life of an entrepreneur due to deciding what was most important for him. It was so incredible and impactful to understand that when someone else was making a choice for him on what and where he needed to be for work, he decided that he wanted something else for himself and his family. Week 5 Reflection

 I really enjoyed this week's studies and all that I was able to learn. I especially enjoyed the case study that we reviewed on Mills and her business. One of my favorite things to learn about this case study, was seeing the importance of Mills and everything that went into the decisions she made. I think a lot of time, I personally have judged people who own businesses and do not really understand what goes into creating those businesses. I think it is important to understand the time and hard work that go into them. Personally, I feel like reading this case study helped me understand more about what I want to do in the future and how I would like to go about growing my business. I think that I would choose the faster growth option and be able to focus more of my efforts on the things I am really good at, but hire people out for the parts that may be harder for me to manage and/or understand. Week 12 Reflection

     There were a lot of interesting concepts that I was able to learn and better understand this week from the study materials that I had been given. I thought it was very interesting to learn more about how entrepreneurs work and how they can grow to experience and find success. I learned more about the importance in finding something that you are passionate about and feel that you could do every single day. This can end up being something that helps you become very successful in your life and business. I also thought it was interesting and great to learn about how you can figure out how to better yourself in whatever you do end up pursuing.       I am excited to figure out how I can better apply these principles into my professional and personal life and how they can help me better.
