Week 5 Reflection

I really enjoyed this week's studies and all that I was able to learn. I especially enjoyed the case study that we reviewed on Mills and her business. One of my favorite things to learn about this case study, was seeing the importance of Mills and everything that went into the decisions she made. I think a lot of time, I personally have judged people who own businesses and do not really understand what goes into creating those businesses. I think it is important to understand the time and hard work that go into them. Personally, I feel like reading this case study helped me understand more about what I want to do in the future and how I would like to go about growing my business. I think that I would choose the faster growth option and be able to focus more of my efforts on the things I am really good at, but hire people out for the parts that may be harder for me to manage and/or understand. I think that this would be helpful for Mills in her business. I am excited to continue to...

Week 4 Reflection

I think that some of the most impactful things that I have learned from the Week 4 study materials would have to be about making sure you are doing something you love. I think that it is really interesting to see how good you are at something, and then be able to use that to your advantage. But at the same time, to not take it to heart too much. By realizing that you need to live in the "second circle," and figure out what you are born to do. You may be good at something, but it does not mean that you are meant to do that. I think that also it is important to see if what you are wanting to pursuing to see if someone is willing to pay you for that. I also enjoyed hearing about how to make sure that you are making effective choices during your day is such an important thing. A lot of times we spend time focusing on thinking that "if only I had more time during the day I could..." but we should make sure we are effective with the time we have. A lot of times becoming s...

Week 3 Reflection

I think that something that was really inspiring and resonated with me, was the fact that a lot of information was shared about the importance of Ethics. I think a lot of times we forget about the importance of Ethics, unless we are experiencing or seeing something unethical going on. I think that it is important to recognize that you want the best for your company, but you need to also create a company/business where being the best you is accepted and enough. I think it was especially interesting to hear about the stories mentioned by Frank Levinson, and how he mentioned about the two men he had at the company. One who did some things he did not particularly like, and the other who was smart but was very dishonest. It seems that by letting go of the first man, and going with the second, that he made a mistake because the second one made up lies about him and ended up costing him his job. I personally think it is important to recognize the type of people we are letting into our bu...

Week 2 Reflection

Why do you think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams? I think that Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he had initiative. I think a lot of times that we do not get things done because we are lacking initiative. It is so easy to sit on a couch for four or more hours a day watching Netflix and having our minds wander. If we actually push ourselves to reach our goals - we will grow. We will actually be able to experience life and accomplish those goals we are set out to do! Now, don't get me wrong, I love Netflix! But I do think that people who accomplish their goals in this life are dedicated and disciplined. They don't give up when it gets hard. They keep pushing and doing the hard things even when they are exhausted and don't feel like doing it. A lot of times this is what most people are lacking in! I think Randy Pausch had the vision and determination to accomplish his dreams! Do you feel that dreaming is i...

Week 1 Reflection

What did you learn from this week’s readings and videos? I think that a lot of things stood out to me. Something I enjoyed learning was that we should be having Plan A, Plan B, and Plan Z. I think it is something really important and a lot of times, we end up focusing on just one option that could definitely work out, another that could maybe work out and then our worst nightmare. I think by providing ourselves with different options and being open to seeing what will work best for us in our paths, is an incredible thing. Apart from this, I also enjoyed learning about the steps to become an entrepreneurial hero. I think a lot of times we look beyond what really goes into becoming an entrepreneur, and just say "oh, that person has a lot of money." But, by reading and studying the topics this week, I have come to realize that it goes beyond that. Living a life of intent and trying to make the world a better place not only helps us further our goals, but can ultimately help cha...
