Week 14 Reflection

I was able to learn a lot of great things during this course. I really felt like my understanding of what goes into becoming an entrepreneur has been amplified. I think before taking this class, I misunderstood and even assumed a lot of things about what goes into becoming an entrepreneur. Now I feel like I have a greater understanding of the hard work, dedication, discipline and desire for greatness that comes with wanting to be an entrepreneur. I definitely think that not all people have the drive to become an entrepreneur, which is very normal. But I do think that it is important to have great people on your team who help you and support you in the best possible way. By understanding who really is willing to stick their neck out for your business and you, and help you succeed is something valuable to learn. I think that in this profession, it takes a lot of risk and also time to see how things play out for you. The hard work is never ending, you need to be dedicated, but also willin

Week 13 Reflection

This week was great and I felt like I was really able to learn a lot of things from the Week 13 readings. I genuinely enjoyed what I learned from the case study we did on Randy Haykin. I felt like I was able to see so many different things in that case study and recognizing things I wish to do in my future. Randy's story is really a remarkable one, seeing the way that he was able to become an entrepreneur. It seemed as though he was almost pushed into the life of an entrepreneur due to deciding what was most important for him. It was so incredible and impactful to understand that when someone else was making a choice for him on what and where he needed to be for work, he decided that he wanted something else for himself and his family. He was able to make an incredible choice and figure out what was really important to him and in his life. He was able to make a big decision and never look back, and from there he started his entrepreneurial career. Randy was also able to triple his

Week 12 Reflection

There were a lot of interesting concepts that I was able to learn and better understand this week from the study materials that I had been given. I thought it was very interesting to learn more about how entrepreneurs work and how they can grow to experience and find success. I learned more about the importance in finding something that you are passionate about and feel that you could do every single day. This can end up being something that helps you become very successful in your life and business. I also thought it was interesting and great to learn about how you can figure out how to better yourself in whatever you do end up pursuing.       I am excited to figure out how I can better apply these principles into my professional and personal life and how they can help me better. I think that a lot of the times the best things we can do for ourselves is figure out how we learn and grow and learning from others or from our own experiences are especially helpful. I desire to do thi

Week 11 Reflection

What is your attitude toward money?     I personally feel that my attitude towards money has improved so much within the past year and a half. A while ago, I was someone who almost had a fear of money since I never felt like I could have it for a long time. Whenever I got paid from my job, I would almost immediately spend all of my paycheck within a day or so. I feel like when I realized how my habits were impacting my life, it was a big wakeup call for me. I have come to understand the importance of knowing how you feel about and towards money. I personally now have a greater understanding of how money can work for me, and there is no longer any fear surrounding that. Like mentioned in the article, "Attitude on Money," it is important that we talk about and understand money and how it works. If we avoid the topic or do not discuss it deeply, it cannot work for and help us. I think this is so important and impactful. How can your view of money affect the way you live? Your vi

Week 5 Reflection

I really enjoyed this week's studies and all that I was able to learn. I especially enjoyed the case study that we reviewed on Mills and her business. One of my favorite things to learn about this case study, was seeing the importance of Mills and everything that went into the decisions she made. I think a lot of time, I personally have judged people who own businesses and do not really understand what goes into creating those businesses. I think it is important to understand the time and hard work that go into them. Personally, I feel like reading this case study helped me understand more about what I want to do in the future and how I would like to go about growing my business. I think that I would choose the faster growth option and be able to focus more of my efforts on the things I am really good at, but hire people out for the parts that may be harder for me to manage and/or understand. I think that this would be helpful for Mills in her business. I am excited to continue to

Week 4 Reflection

I think that some of the most impactful things that I have learned from the Week 4 study materials would have to be about making sure you are doing something you love. I think that it is really interesting to see how good you are at something, and then be able to use that to your advantage. But at the same time, to not take it to heart too much. By realizing that you need to live in the "second circle," and figure out what you are born to do. You may be good at something, but it does not mean that you are meant to do that. I think that also it is important to see if what you are wanting to pursuing to see if someone is willing to pay you for that. I also enjoyed hearing about how to make sure that you are making effective choices during your day is such an important thing. A lot of times we spend time focusing on thinking that "if only I had more time during the day I could..." but we should make sure we are effective with the time we have. A lot of times becoming s

Week 3 Reflection

I think that something that was really inspiring and resonated with me, was the fact that a lot of information was shared about the importance of Ethics. I think a lot of times we forget about the importance of Ethics, unless we are experiencing or seeing something unethical going on. I think that it is important to recognize that you want the best for your company, but you need to also create a company/business where being the best you is accepted and enough. I think it was especially interesting to hear about the stories mentioned by Frank Levinson, and how he mentioned about the two men he had at the company. One who did some things he did not particularly like, and the other who was smart but was very dishonest. It seems that by letting go of the first man, and going with the second, that he made a mistake because the second one made up lies about him and ended up costing him his job. I personally think it is important to recognize the type of people we are letting into our busine
